Our pumps are a pot of gold | ||
![]() | A gold mine in northwestern Quebec had two centrifugal slurry pumps installed on their concentrated minerals filter press feed application. The application involved pumping the mineral slurry at 200 GPM through the filter overcoming 100 psi. Due to the air in the concentrated minerals slurry, workers found that the centrifugal slurry pumps would frequently lose their prime and therefore were unable to completely fill the filter press. Additionally, the cost to maintain the centrifugal slurry pumps was considerably high. In order to cut costs and maintain a more productive process the gold mine turned to Watson-Marlow. After discussing the mine’s needs Watson-Marlow suggested three SPX100 hose pumps to replace the centrifugal slurry pumps. The SPX100’s were able to handle the entrained air in the slurry and their excellent abrasion resistance could not be matched.
